Smart, but like all terriers, stubborn and difficult to train. They were bred to hunt and kill foxes that preyed on sheep. They love to bark, so if you want peace and quiet, this breed is not for you. They love to dig as well, so prepare to have a lot of pot-holes in your backyard. They originate from the Lake District in England. They make great pets, but first time owners will find them difficult. They are better suited to people who are familiar with their specific needs, and have enough time and patience for this energetic dog.
