The nation is currently under a state of emergency following massive demonstrations after the overthrowing of the country’s long-serving ruler, Omar Al-Bashir. Security forces have turned to violence to curb the demonstrations, resulting to over a hundred killed (some even thrown in the river) and scores injured. There were even reports of human rights violations by the security forces. Terrorist groups are also a threat, particularly to western interests through shootings, bombings, and kidnappings.
