“Christmas morning she’ll be happier with a Hoover.” – The Hoover Company

This ad removes the gift options Dormeyer gave, and automatically assumes that the typical wife enjoys vacuuming so much, she would be ecstatic to receive Hoover’s newest, state-of-the-art vacuum cleaner for Christmas.
The ad reads, “Give her a Hoover and you give her the best,” but what it seems to really say is, “Merry Christmas, sweetheart. Now, clean the house.”
There’s even a postscript for the husband, “She cares about her home… if you really care about her… wouldn’t it be a good idea to consider a Hoover for Christmas?” Sure, the ad is not as aggressive and crude as the other ads in the list, but if the husband really cares about his wife, then maybe he can buy her something else besides an appliance.
There’s also that little note that not only will your wife be happier with a Hoover on Christmas morning, she’ll be happier “forever after.”
