“It’s nice to have a girl around the house.” – Mr. Leggs

Daily Mail

Oh, here’s another one of Mr. Leggs’ nefarious ads. Let’s see how this one did in our offensive ad checklist:
A woman’s disembodied head is on the floor. Terribly rude.
Her head is attached to a tiger-skin rug. Disturbing and also in violation of federal wildlife conservation laws.
The man’s leg is propped on the woman’s head. Absolutely unacceptable.
The ad copy, “Though she was a tiger lady, our hero didn’t have to fire a shot to floor her… If you’d like your own doll-to-doll carpeting, hunt a pair of these he-man Mr. Leggs Slacks,” again missed the mark at being funny although it definitely got people’s attention.
This ad extols the superiority of men and their dominance of women, and it also promotes the subjugation of women. The ad implies that wearing Mr. Leggs’ clothing gives men power over women. A woman only has to look at a man in a pair of Mr. Leggs Slacks, and she will eagerly allow him to walk all over her. Not anymore.
