Chevy Chase is famous for his portrayals of Clark W. Griswold in the National Lampoon’s Vacation films, but he’s also infamous for his incredibly rude and crude behavior. There is no shortage of articles describing how the Caddyshack star has proven himself a total jerk. There’s even a book, Live From New York: The Complete, Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live as Told by Its Stars, Writers, and Guests, that details how Chase was rude to co-actors, writers, and interns.

Even fellow comedians have nothing nice to say about the original cast member of SNL. Both Bill Murray and Will Ferrell have called him out for being rude and difficult. Often, Chase would go around the set, making fun of the guys, and then he’d subject the female writers to lecherous remarks and lewd suggestions. Chase is not only disrespectful to co-workers, but he’s also unpleasant to fans. Once, he literally slapped a fan who approached him backstage, actor Rob Huebel, and said he meant it as a joke.
