The actor, filmmaker, and owner of the production company 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks, Spike Lee, is known for his culturally and socially conscious films, namely Malcolm X, 4 Little Girls, She’s Gotta Have It, and Do The Right Thing. However, Lee also has a reputation for doing anything but the right thing when it comes to public social interactions. The director rarely hides his annoyance with fans and journalists, and he’s also known to start feuds with other celebrities like actor Tyler Perry, singer Chance The Rapper, and director Clint Eastwood. Lee bluntly criticized Eastwood for not depicting black Marines in his war films Letters from Iwo Jima and Flags of Our Fathers, then later added fuel to the fire by calling an understandably upset Eastwood an “angry old man.”

Many of the people Lee has worked with the past decade find him insufferable. Actor and singer Jamie Foxx called Lee “shady” and “irresponsible” while comedian and civil rights activist Dick Gregory labeled him a “punk” and a “thug.”
