It’s not often that we see an actor as versatile and fully committed to his role as Christian Bale. He dropped 63 pounds for his part in The Machinist, bulked up 100 pounds to don the mask of Batman, lost weight again to play Micky Ward in The Fighter, and went through another incredible transformation as a pot-bellied con artist in American Hustle. And it’s not just Bale’s insane weight loss/gain methods that prove what a master chameleon he can be in the name of his craft. Bale is a true artist who readily sacrifices his physical and mental health to deliver breathtaking performances, and for this, we could almost forgive his hostile behavior on the set of Terminator Salvation where he verbally attacked the film’s cinematographer.

However, it’s difficult to forgive even the most talented of actors when he makes little girls cry. According to his former publicist, when young fangirls approached their table, Bale lectured them about being rude and intrusive until tears were streaming down their faces. Also, when another fan sent Bale a letter to his home, the fiery-tempered actor told his publicist that the fan should be “eliminated” by plunging a screwdriver through the eyeball and into the brain. This sounded more like the Joker instead of Batman.
