Have A Swiss Army Knife in School

Scouting Magazine

When we were kids, it was normal for a young boy growing up to have a pocketknife. It just made sense, especially if you lived in the South. In fact, it has been said to us before, when we were small, “A boy who don’t carry a pocketknife ain’t worth a plugged nickel.”. We never really got around to figuring out how much a plugged nickel really was worth — but we do remember when having a pocketknife came to be seen as a forbidden weapon in most places. After the terrorist attacks on 9/11, it is largely believed that they had hijacked the plane using box cutters and knives. While there were other weapons used in the different plane hijackings, the country felt a whole lot safer if people weren’t walking around with pocketknives any more after that.
