Girls Line, Boys Line

When we were growing up, it wasn’t unheard of for all the girls to line up on one side of the hallway, and for all of the boys to line up on the other. It was just a normal day at school for most of us growing up in co-ed schools. Kids nowadays though are much more likely to be asked to line up according to height, or alphabetically (if they are older), as separating people by gender is believed to be insensitive for those who do not ascribe to a binary gender understanding. This sounds like a lot to carry for a fourth grader, but teachers are making their classrooms more and more inclusive for every student, binary or otherwise.
