While there is currently a whole lot of legislation surrounding the sale and marketing of tobacco products to minors (namely, adolescents), there is still no unified smoking age that makes smoking illegal at any age. While some states enforce a smoking age, it is particular to certain territories, and does not extend beyond state lines. This means that you can’t buy cigarettes under the age of 21 for example, but if you got them you can smoke them. Back when we were kids, we didn’t really have a problem with buying cigarettes as minors because cigarette candy was a regular and real thing that you could get at your local corner store. Some variants even had a little fake smoke coming out the ends, too.
