Naughty Corners

Blogspot

Whether at home or in school, kids these days rarely are told to stand in the corner. In 2014, academics agreed that children standing in naughty corners at school was an abuse of their human rights. Specifically, the right to dignity, and the right to education. Earlier, in 2011, an Australian education and parenting consultant claimed that naughty corners and time outs in bedrooms “shame and humiliate” children. When we were kids, this wasn’t a concern for most of our parents and our teachers. They just wanted us to take time to think about what we did, and to get back on track. At least we didn’t have to wear dunce caps.
