Clap Erasers

Cloudfront

If you’re over the age of 30, and you walk into a classroom today, the first thing that will jump out at you is the lack of a blackboard. Even while we were growing up, most schools still had blackboards in certain classrooms, and whiteboards in others — but you couldn’t go through your entire day without stumbling upon a blackboard. Kids today write on whiteboards, take notes from PowerPoint or Keynote presentations, and make email groups to discuss projects. No chance any of them have had to clap erasers after class! Furthermore, chalk dust can trigger asthma and allergies, and schools are getting more and more afraid of earning the ire of parents everywhere (who, oddly enough, had to clap erasers) — so they have phased these iconic scholastic symbols out.
