Don’t Use Unlicensed Transportation

Upon arrival at the airport, you may notice runners escorting you to a vehicle for use to your hotel. Most of these are unlicensed and illegal. Not only that, they will surely overcharge you. Plus they most likely don’t speak any English. You also should refrain from renting a car, unless you are used to the area you are going to. Some roads are not maintained properly, and Chinese drivers are not the safest in the world. You are better off getting a licensed cab (they will have their names and plate numbers on the doors), that have meters, or public transportation. Cab fares are relatively cheap in China. Just make sure you make allowances in your schedules if using public transport, most are never on time.
