Standards in China are different regarding personal space. With so many people, it is difficult not to get bumped, shoved, or while talking to someone, have them stand so close to you. Chinese are used to having little space around. It is very crowded and people make adjustments. It is normal in China not to have the luxury of personal space. And don’t expect orderly queues. Lining up for something like an elevator, public transport, or at a store in not normal. It may take a while to get used to, but you will surely manage.
