Don’t drink in public places in Ukraine as the country has harsh and strict laws concerning the consumption of alcohol, even drinks that have very low alcoholic content, in public. These areas include public health service establishments, public transports or transport stops, cultural establishments, parks and playgrounds, sports or athletic establishments, and other public or official buildings. They have a vigilant patrol police on the lookout for offenders, especially in tourist or party areas to ensure that the drinking is maintained in legal premises. Carrying or having an open alcoholic beverage, even without you drinking it, can result to you getting fined or worse, see the inside of a jail cell. In Kyiv, retail shops are even prohibited from selling alcohol from 10pm onwards.
