Don’t Be Too Open or Display Public Affection For LGBTQ

Although having homosexual relationships or being a member of the LGBTQ community is not prohibited by the law, the society in Ukraine is still not comparable when it comes to LGBTQ rights and acceptance, especially in smaller communities. Because of this, don’t be too open or display public affection as there have been cases of violent attacks against gay people, especially men. While Kyiv may be more open to this, where gay clubs are even in operation, Lviv and Kharkiv are said to have shown signs of homophobia. Pride marches are even heavily guarded by police due to the threat posed by those in the right-wing movement.
