Dick Tracy’s Steve, The Tramp

Talk about a toy who’s manufacturers just didn’t think things through. Steve The Tramp, is from the Dick Tracy story who plays a character that’s homeless and known to abuse kids and disregard property. Why they felt the need to immortalize his character as an action figure is truly beyond any understanding even if it was meant to be a marketing ploy. Not only did it portray homeless vagabonds in a horrible light, but they even focused on his odor and the fact that he lived in the sewers, writing on the packaging “ignorant bum….you’ll smell him before you see him.” It also makes us wonder why the toy company would think any kid would want to own one in the first place?
