If the only requirements you have for a place to be considered retirement-friendly are Instagram-worthy vistas, then Connecticut might be it. However, we’re pretty sure that there are more important things to consider when searching for a retirement destination.
The state’s easy-going pace and provincial charm, complemented by its picturesque autumn foliage might make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, but they surely won’t make your retirement life any easier. Connecticut’s tightening on expenditures has left it wanting in government and healthcare services. On top of that, the state’s high cost of living, worsened by Social Security and income taxation, make it less than ideal for retirement.
Connecticut is also known to charge outrageous levies on properties, making it the state with the 2nd highest real estate tax in the country.
