Oklahoma: Ranked #13, (Tied with Alaska)

World Atlas

Oklahoma is widely considered as a retirement-conducive state particularly because of the low cost of living and the tax breaks it gives retirees. Up to $10,000 of a pensioner’s income is tax-free in the state, in addition to Social Security being non-taxable. These perks sound very enticing, especially if one wants to stretch their finances during their golden years.
The state’s generally warm weather and laid-back pace also adds to Oklahoma’s allure as a retirement destination, but that’s about it as far as good weather and stress-free living is concerned. This is because Oklahoma’s very high probability of being hit by tornadoes, a statistic that translates to higher real estate insurance costs for residents annually.
Surveys on retiree healthcare, and quality of nursing facilities, have found Oklahoma lacking in those areas as well.
