New Jersey: Ranked #6

New Jersey’s beautiful beaches, awe-inspiring greenery, and touristy attractions make it sound like a great place to retire in. It is, but only if you have the money for it.
While enjoying a round of golf or spending a few hours on the slot machines may make retiring there a dream, New Jersey’s high cost of living isn’t for everyone. The state is ranked as the 5th most expensive place to live in. That, compounded by poor quality of healthcare there, makes it unideal place for people to spend their golden years in.
Property taxes are the highest in New Jersey compared to those of other states, but ironically, New Jersey still finds itself overcrowded.
To top it all, New Jersey traffic is a nightmare and its winters are bitterly-cold. That doesn’t sound like a good place for one to retire in.
