German national Greta Voelker had always known what she wanted: to play on the LPGA Tour. Going to college was just a backup in case she didn’t qualify in the European Ladies Q school. Good thing she did have a backup, as she later joined the University of Texas, and subsequently named 2017 Big 12 Freshman of the Year. After two more years, including a win at the 2018 Dutch Ladies Amateur Championship and a career best ranking of 194 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, the alluring German turned professional in 2019. Greta immediately went off to a flying start, winning the Neuchatel Ladies Championship 2019 in the LET Access Series, including three other top-10 finishes in the 15 tournaments she has played. The 23-year-old rookie also had a 5T finish in the Symetra Tour’s IOA Championship as well as a 42nd finish at the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open 2020 in the Women’s European Tour. Making up for lost time? Seems that way, but a hot start is surely fitting for this hot golfer.
