Knoxville, Tennessee native Sophia Schubert is currently a professional golfer in the Symetra Tour. Before that, she played for the Christian Academy of Knoxville, then for the Texas Longhorns. Among her wins as an amateur were the 2014 Under Armour – Scott Stallings Championship, the 2017 Lady Buckeye Invitational and Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invite, but her biggest win came in that same year as well when she captured the 117th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship after she outshot the then number 3 ranked amateur and former Olympian Albane Valenzuela in the final. Aged 21 at the time, her win ended the nine-year streak of teenagers capturing the title. The 24-year-old dark-haired beauty turned professional in 2018 after achieving her best ranking of 14 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings on the heels of her victory but not before representing the United States in the Curtis Cup and Arnold Palmer Cup in 2018, winning both.
