The appealing South Korean professional golfer also goes by the name So Yeon Ryu. She became interested in golf when she was in second grade and a golf class was offered as an elective. Ryu turned pro in 2007 before she turned 18, and she won the 2008 American Cactus Tour. She joined the LPGA of Korea and won the Sports Seoul Open which was the first event she played. In 2011, Ryu won the U.S. Women’s Open, and in 2012, she made her second LPGA Tour win at the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic. Ryu continues to bag several LPGA Tour victories, and in 2018, she won her sixth career title on the LPGA Tour. Even while she was competing in and winning golf tournaments, Ryu completed her studies at Yonsei University where she graduated in 2013 with a degree in sports business. Ryu is not only passionate about golf, but she’s also an avid violinist.
