The swinging siren, Melissa Reid, is a professional golfer born in Derby, England. She has won several tournaments as an amateur, from English Girls’ Championships to the Helen Holm and St Rule Trophies. She turned pro in late 2007 and started playing on the Ladies European Tour. She finished third at the Australian Open in 2008, gained entrance into LET events for the rest of the season, and was named LET Rookie of the Year. In 2010, Melissa earned her first win at the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open, and she won twice more in 2011 as a member of the year’s Solheim Cup team. Unfortunately, Melissa’s massive success was derailed when her mother died in a vehicular accident in Munich while on her way to see her daughter compete in a LET event in 2012. Depressed and lonely, Melissa’s performance declined the succeeding years, but she’s back on the green with her game. An advocate of gender equality in sports, Melissa spoke publicly about her identity and came out that she was gay in December 2018.
