The beautiful golf legend Christel Boeljon is famously known for qualifying for the Tour on her first attempt. Born in Beverwijk in the Netherlands, her first love was field hockey, but she gave it up shortly after she joined her parents on a trip to the Golfclub Spaarnwoude, and she focused on golf ever since. She moved to the United States in 2005 when she accepted a golf scholarship to Purdue University in Indiana. Christel turned pro in 2009 after she competed at the Ladies European Tour’s qualifying school, won the first stage, and finished fourth in the final stage in 2009. With her brilliant play and striking looks, she won the European Ladies Golf Cup with fellow golfer Marjet van der Graaff as well as the National Stroke Play. In 2011, she played her first major in the United States at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, won the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open, and placed second at the Ladies Slovak Open, putting her at the lead of the Ladies European Tour money list.
