This is a photo of men, women, and children picking apples in St Albans, Vermont in 1900. The Second Industrial Revolution, also known as the Technological Revolution was at its height when this picture was taken, and it was a period of rapid standardization and industrialization. This photo shows that even though technology like the telegraph and railroad networks, as well as the gas and water supply, were being adopted all around the world, there were still industries that relied on manpower — and they made their work into a family affair. This is the backbone of a lot of American industries. The Technological Revolution went on until the beginning of World War I.
