Jeremy Maguire joins the cast of Modern Family as Joe Pritchett on the 12th episode from Season 4. Born on Manny’s 14th birthday, the entire family welcomes him, with Jay deeply moved and grateful but with Claire not so happy that Gloria only suffered 20 minutes of labor. However, Joe soon gives his parents grief by being, at times, unintentionally violent and by getting his mother in trouble. Joe also tends to mimic his father’s expletives and expressions.

Gloria’s mother wanted to name him Fulgencio Umberto, the names of her late husband and her late father, but Jay refuses to call him either. Though he was eventually named Fulgencio Joseph Pritchett, Jay insists to never call his son Fulgencio but “Joe.”

Modern Family was Maguire’s first stint in acting. In 2015, he replaced Pierce Wallace as Joe Pritchett because producers wanted an older actor. Maguire was four years old then.
