Even though Pepper isn’t the most likable person in the show, Cam and Mitchell stay friends with him, and viewers get to enjoy his hilarious performance. Some fans even comment that he’s the funniest guest and wish he were a regular cast member.

Lane has won many accolades and awards before and after Modern Family, including the American Comedy Award for Funniest Lead Actor in a Motion Picture for his performance in The Birdcage, the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for Timon & Pumbaa, and three Tony Awards for Best Actor in a Musical and Best Featured Actor in a Play. Aside from awards in film and theater, Lane was also presented the Human Rights Campaign Equality Award, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation Vito Russo Award, and the Matthew Shepard Foundation Making A Difference Award.
