Aubrey Anderson-Emmons plays Lily Tucker-Pritchett, the baby girl Cameron and Mitchell adopted from Vietnam. Even though in real life, Vietnam’s laws prohibit adoptions by same-sex couples or single parents, Cam and Mitchell manage to bring her home and introduce her to the rest of the family in a big, dramatic announcement in the pilot episode. Her adoption makes a big impact not just on the Pritchett family but on viewers, too, as it shows a reflection of today’s acceptance of cultural diversity. In the first season, Lily becomes an adorable toddler with a penchant for sarcasm—which she got from her parents and her Aunt Claire who often babysits her.

Anderson-Emmons’ character was initially played by twins, Ella and Jaden Hiller, but she replaced them halfway through Season 2. While Lily is Vietnamese, Anderson-Emmons is of Korean heritage.
