Gina Rinehart is an Australian mining magnate and chairperson of Hancock Prospecting. She inherited her father’s company in 1992, and guided its expansion over the next two decades. It was worth $75 million when she took over. During the 2000s commodities boom, iron ore prices rose rapidly and so did Rinehart’s fortunes. She has then multiplied it at least 380 times. The $75 million worth of the company 2 decades ago is what Rinehart earns in a day and a half. Unfortunately, three of her four children are suing her in order to knock her off her late father’s multi-billion dollar family trust. She also had a legal tussle with her stepmother over the circumstances of her father’s death. It lasted 14 years.
