This Chilean billionaire inherited her wealth when her husband, Andronico Luksic Abaroa died of cancer in 2005. He left the businesses to Iris and their three sons. The company Antofagasta, a copper mining company, is one of the largest mining companies in the world. It is traded on the London Stock Exchange. Iris also has stakes in shipping companies, breweries, and a Chilean bank. The holding company is Quinenco. She is the richest person in Chile. She also owns a major portion of the TV channel Canal 13, and a chain of luxury hotels in Croatia. She makes significant contributions to the annual Chilean Telethon which helps children with physical disabilities. She has managed the businesses left by her husband, and grew them into what they are now.
