She is a Swiss billionaire who took over as chairperson of the agricultural commodities business when her husband Robert Louis-Dreyfus died in 2009. She was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, on June 1 1962. She was left a stake of 69.6 % of the company, which she recently secured financing to buy out the remaining family stakes in the 167 year-old business, spending over $800 million. This was a third more than what the shares were worth at that time. But in the first 6 months of 2018, the company’s turnover was almost $19 billion. It employs around 17,000 people across the globe. A classic rags to riches story, she was orphaned at the age of 11 when her parents died in a train accident. She was raised by a grandfather, and graduated with an accounting degree from a local school in St. Petersburg. She met her husband Robert in 1988, and married 3 years later. This was the beginning of her rise to wealth.
