Shari Arison is Israel’s wealthiest woman. She is the owner of Arison Investments, which she inherited from her father when he passed away in 1999. She was born in America, and also inherited a large stake of the cruise ship line company Carnival Corp., which her father Ted also co-founded. She also owns 16% of Israel’s biggest bank, Bank Hapoalim. She has several other investments such as a desalination plant, and a thermo-solar power plant. She founded the Ted Arison Family Foundation in 1981. However this billionaire seems to be divesting her companies for values below their worth. The latest was Salt of the Earth, a company which accounts for 80% of all salt sales in Israel. She had originally sought about 300 million shekels for the company, but agreed to a bid of 160 million shekels from a private equity fund. Well, money comes and goes if you are not careful.
