Never point using your index finger because this is considered offensive. It is deemed extremely rude when you are pointing at a person with your index finger. This gesture is found impolite not only in Hong Kong but in many cultures. It’s considered rude because it’s associated with blame or accusation; hence the phrase, “point the finger at someone.” Also, you automatically make the person you point at an object of scrutiny, and this is immensely embarrassing for an individual from Hong Kong.
