The city’s METRORail is one of the most popular and fastest modes of public transportation, with more than 55,000 passengers riding it on a daily basis. Although you may think that its top speed of 66 mph or 106 km/h is not that impressive, don’t underestimate it as it packs a wallop. As such, when taking a car, don’t drive on the tracks, and definitely don’t try running a red light as it has quite a history of accidents and crashes. In fact, it even averaged six crashes per month at a certain point, which is 20 times worse compared to the national average, with most crashes resulting from drivers turning into the trains or running the red light, leading people to call it the “Wham Bam tram” and “Danger Train.”
