Don’t Put Beans In The Chili

When it comes to comfort food, you can’t go wrong with chili and cornbread. And when you’re in Houston, or in any other part of Texas for that matter, don’t make the mistake of putting, or looking for beans when you have some as this is considered an abomination in the Lone Star State. As they say here, chili is quite spare, and consists of nothing else than (spicy) ground beef and chili sauce (or powder). You might as well call that bowl of red a stew or goulash if you add the beans. So, in case you get invited to someone’s house party, don’t ruin it for the guests by bringing chili with beans in it. But in case you do, just don’t call it Texas chili.
