Do Not Underdress In Iran

If you dress like a sloppy tourist always in shorts and flip flops, be ready for some frowns and stares. Iran, like most muslim-dominated countries are very conservative the way the dress. It is not proper for men to wear walking shorts, but denims are allowed. Women normally cover up with a hijab, but a tunic or a headscarf will suffice. Wearing a long shirt that covers your bum is accepted, and sandals will do. Just because women are supposed to cover themselves does not mean they don’t dress fashionably. You are allowed to wear any kind of color combinations, and Iranian women love their fashion, particularly during summer.
