Iran has a plethora of spices, some of which are not found readily in western countries. But don’t expect all spices to be cheap. Saffron costs more than gold, at over $45 per gram. Iran produces 90% of the world’s saffron, but it still is expensive. Iran is also the largest exporter of caviar, the most expensive delicacy around. They have the rarest and costliest type, such as almas caviar from a 60-100 year old beluga sturgeon which sells for over $31,000 a kilo. Unfortunately, these products are not for haggling. If you can’t afford it, don’t look for it.
