Never Underestimate Pedestrian Safety

While driving in Iran may be dangerous, being a careless pedestrian is even worse. Traffic lights are not really followed, people go on gut instinct. It seems the lights are merely decorative at best. You may be waiting for the pedestrian green light, but notice locals crossing and not minding the light. Similarly, you may have the green light to cross the street, yet a car just almost runs you over. Always be alert, look both ways before crossing. It may be something you are not used to, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
