Don’t Forget Your Table Manners

You may be invited to a dinner at a family home, there are just some things you have to remember and realize. First of all, don’t expect to be seated at a table. Persians commonly take their meals seated on the floor, sometimes without utensils. If utensils are provided, don’t use the fork to eat rice, use the spoon. And never use the left hand, always the right hand to eat, even if you are left-handed. You will be offered lots of food, you don’t have to finish everything on your plate. Leaving just a bit will signify you are full and content. Also, if you happen to be from an Asian country that slurps soup, it is not done in Iran. Try not to do things that will humiliate you, and put your host in an awkward situation.
