You can use your credit and debit cards to pay for your purchases in a lot of the larger establishments in Spain. Most hotels and restaurants will accept credit and debit cards. However, you should remember to contact your bank before your trip to ensure that your credit and debit cards remain active during your trip to Spain. Make sure that your bank is aware that you will be in Spain for a specific period. You should do this each time you go outside of the country; otherwise you may just find out, while making a purchase, that your bank has just blocked your card. That would be embarrassing for you and may cause a bit of a hassle since you will have to make a phone call to unblock your card. Also make sure that the online banking option for your card is enabled before your trip, unblocking your card in this manner is in most cases simpler to do than making an international phone call.
