Never Forget Your Travel Requirements

The documents required when traveling to Spain largely depends on your country of origin. If you are a citizen of a European Union member country (for example: Germany, Italy and etc.), you will need a passport or an ID card. In the case of a minor who is not accompanied by their parents, the passport or ID document must be accompanied with a written permission from the parents.
If you are from the United States, it is good to know that American citizens can enter Spain visa-free for up to three months (90 days), if the purpose for your trip to Spain is for business or tourism. That means you just have to bring your passport! Although, you have to check the expiration date on your passport before traveling to Spain. Entry into Spain (one of the 26 European countries included in the Schengen area), requires that your passport be valid for at least three (3) months after your intended departure date. The State Department actually suggests that your passport should have at least six (6) months’ validity remaining whenever you travel abroad.
If you are considering staying in Spain for a longer time (longer than 3 months), you should check with the Spanish embassy/consulate in your country prior to entry or you may also check on the Spanish Ministry of Interior’s website.
