Never Wear Your Swimsuit on the Streets

Wearing a swimsuit while frolicking on the beach is fine. But when you leave the beach, you have to cover-up. Back in 2010, the resort of Salou on the Costa Daurada, south of Barcelona, was the first place in Spain to ban beachwear from all places, except from the beach, beachfront bars and restaurants. The town council passed a new set of by-laws that would impose a fine between €100 and €300 on those who would violate the ban. Barcelona also imposed a similar ban starting May 2011. In Barcelona, fines of between €120 and €300 will be issued to those going “semi-nude” and between €300 to €500 to those who dare to bare all, while away from the designated nudist beach.
