The Wild West was given its name for good reason, because as the name suggests, it was wild and lawless. There may have been sheriffs around, but it didn’t mean that anyone actually followed the law. The land was basically criminal and chaotic, and both cowboys and natives committed loads of horrific crimes. One such story was that of 14-year old Olive Oatman, as seen in the photo. Her entire family was murdered before her eyes before she was kidnapped and sold as a slave to the Mohave tribe.
