Another popular “star” was Whirling Horse. Although he was a Native American, people knew him to be a “show Indian,” which was basically the way he made a living. Since he was from a native tribe, he often played the part of the victim in shows, which actually helped suppress a lot of tensions during the American-Indian Wars. Apparently, seeing him acting out his suffering also caused others to find sympathy for their people.
