Evil Dead 2 (1987)

Director Sam Raimi’s 3 entries into the Evil Dead franchise are considered classics. Maybe not favorites of some critics, but good enough for the horror genre. However, the Army of Darkness was basically a slapstick comedy with some horror leanings, Evil Dead 2 is a horror film about lunatic demon possession that has some comedy to lighten the impact. Of course, lead actor Bruce Campbell is talented enough to mix both horror and comedy. Raimi was in command behind the camera, amidst the chaos seen on screen, It may not be the best horror film ever, but it certainly was a successful horror franchise – even the remakes and series are solid.
