Animation sequels are quite difficult to make more successful than the originals. But you have to admit, the animation Toy Story and Toy Story 2 were great. But the emotional attachment elicited by the audience for Toy Story 3 was really awesome. 15 years after the original film debuted, Andy is headed to college, just like the original boys and girls who watched it and grew up with Woody and Buzz. The story wrestles with aging and loss, managing to convince the audience that a Disney movie may actually kill-off a beloved character. Plus the guilt feeling of abandoning a favorite toy as if it had no value, is a lot of emotions to flood the audience with. Clearly more of an emotional roller coaster ride for fans.
