Many critics claim the twist in the sequel is one of the best in cinematic history. The Luke Skywalker-Darth Vader scene elicits an anxiety that will haunt the rest of the Star Wars saga. This is what builds the franchise from a sci-fi movie into a masterful cinematic icon. Of course many did not expect Luke to lose a hand, but it surely added to the anticipation for the next films. Not to mention that fan favorite Yoda made his debut in this movie. Again, some will say that the other Star Wars movies after were also as good. But greatness has to start somewhere, and it surely started in this sequel.
