Dawn Of The Dead (1979)

Definitely a much better movie than the first one – the 1968 cult classic Night of the Living Dead. But let’s face it, 11 years can really make a difference. But, it seemed that the 1968 original was more hilarious than frightening…the zombies looked ridiculous. Both were from legendary director George A. Romero, but were so different from each other. The sequel was surely more terrifying than the original, and its unsubtle commentary about the zombification of America was ahead of its time. Zombie movies since then have been inspired by Dawn of the Dead, and it goes without saying that the visual and make-up effects have improved. Still, for a 1979 horror movie, it did get our attention.
