Marie Callender was known to make a really good pie. She would deliver to restaurants in the 1940s. Marie Callender’s Restaurant & Bakery, was a former sister chain of Perkins. However, it was not part of the Huddle House purchase, so they are worse off than Perkin’s. Nineteen locations have since been closed by the bankruptcy restructuring. Today, there are only about 28 outlets still operating. Noticeably, it was the weaker link in the partnership with Perkins. Hopefully the brand can recover and continue what Marie Callender started in the 1940s. It would be such a shame if it doesn’t make it through 2020.
